About Us

We are a newly married couple living on the Gold Coast of Australia. We met on safari in Africa and were married in Fiji. We've recently returned from a nine month round-the-world honeymoon full of adventures. We're now seeking out and blogging about our new adventures here in Australia.

The Longer Version

How we met...
I don't know if I believe in love at first site but I do know I can't remember a time not being in love with Pamela. This is my (Dave) abridged version of how an American guy and an Australian girl met and fell in love. We start the story in Africa.

Pamela and I met on August 23rd, 2008 in Nairobi, Kenya. I'll never forget the date because it just happened to be my 30th birthday and day one of our African safari. That evening we joked that Pamela should come with me on my post-Safari trip to Zanzibar, little did we know our jokes would turn into reality.

During our safari we experiencing breathtaking scenery, some interesting sleeping conditions and the "Big Five" of the African plains. While on safari we got to know each other quite a bit. We were on a camping safari and unfortunately I was paired with the snorer of the group. Each night the group would wait to see where we setup our tent then set their tents up as far away as possible. Pamela had a good time making fun of me about that. I on the other hand had many sleepless nights due to the noise.

Pamela had several free days following the safari and I was booked to fly to Zanzibar for the amount of time Pamela had free. Fate worked out and she decided to join me on my trip as friends. We flew to Zanzibar, I don't think we knew each others last names, and stayed at a super-romantic hotel on the island of Zanzibar. At this point we were still just friends so sleeping in the big four poster bed with her had me a bit nervous. The next morning after a rooftop breakfast we checked out of the romantic hotel and hopped on a small boat to Chumbe Island

Chumbe Island is an amazing small island in the Indian Ocean consisting of seven eco-huts with space for 14 total guests. Talk about super romantic, the place was prime for romance and the first night there we had our first kiss. The rest of the five days is history. It was easy to get to know each other on the island as their was no TV, radio, cell phones so the only thing to do was relax and talk. Five nights later I was on my way back to America and Pamela was on her way to South Africa to meet up with her friends. I had no idea if I would ever see Pamela again.

Fast forward eight months.....
Pamela comes to Los Angeles to visit on her way from Europe to Canada. Thankfully she never made it to Canada and stayed with me in Los Angeles. We have a great time travelling through the South-West, Mexico and parts of South America and Europe.

Fast forward 11 months....
Pamela is back in Australia working as a Travel Agent. We take a trip to Fiji to celebrate Pamela's birthday. The first night there I proposed to her on the beach. Thankfully she said yes! I was so nervous.

Fast forward 13 months....
We were married in Fiji surrounded by family and friends. We're now both jobless, married and travelling the world. When we get back we plan on settling down and starting a family.
